 At  Tautoro  School                                         

At Tautoro School we have been learning how to dance. Also we have been working hard to achieve our learning goals. Whaea Hera worked with us this year. She showed us how to grow plants from seeds to feed our families. Also we have been reading with Whaea Hilary.

It  felt amazing to play sports with Matua  Matt. We played, basketball, touch, rippa rugby and soccer.  

We use the hoe like manaakitanga, kaitiakitanga, tikanga, tumaia and kaha.

 In  room 3 we have been growing  lots of squash, tomatoes,  courgettes,  pansy and lots more plants.  Plants need fresh air, fresh soil, lots of water and the right temperature  to germinate.

I felt happy and  excited because we will  be selling our plants  for  $1.  There are lots of plants.  It could make $400 for our class.   We will be selling shoes  clothes and slippers too lots of money for our classroom.

We should do homework every night.                                           

I think we should do homework  every night.

Firstly I think why we should do our homework is because

it helps us to learn more.  

Secondly why I think we should do our homework is because it helps us to achieve our learning goals.  

Another reason why I think we should do our homework every night is because it helps us grow our brain smarter.  

Lastly I think we should do our homework because it helps us practise our learning.   

So that‘s why I think we should do our homework every night.

I think we should drink water every day

Firstly I think we should drink water every day because water does not have sugar in it.

Secondly I think we should drink water every day because it helps us swallow properly.  

Another reason why I think we should drink water every day is so our mouth does not get dry and our body does not get dry and so we stay healthy.

Lastly I think we should drink water every day because  

It sends nutrients all around our body.

So that’s why I think we should drink water every day.

Practicing my  addition  basics facts . I wanted  to get faster  and more accurate. When  I started  this week my top score was 20 .  Today I scored 38. Here are my  results.

At the Tautoro Cross Country.

“Ready set go!” shouted Whaea Rosina.

I ran as fast as a race car. It was Wednesday morning.

I was running with the 6 year olds around the Padley Farm.

My Mum and dad were yelling and screaming at me.

Miss Simeon was supporting all the runners.

We had to run around the race course 1 time.

When I nearly got to the end my legs felt like wobbly jelly. My side felt like I got stabbed with a knife. I was aching.

My lungs felt like they were going to explode. My back was sore. My heart was pumping so fast. It was very painful.

I raced as hard as I could. I wanted to make it so I could go to Ohaeawai. I thought I was going to come 1st but I came 2nd. William came 1st. But I made it to go to Ohaeawai. I felt outstanding and terrific. I won for Red.

I felt super.

On Saturday morning me and my family went to the beach in Opononi.

When I got to the beach we got the towels out of the car and then we got our swimming togs. We quickly got changed. We couldn’t wait to get into the water.

When we got into the water it felt cold, cold, cold.

We only had a quick swim because the water was too cold.

When we got out we changed back into our clothes so we could get warm. Then we had some lunch. I was really hungry. Our lunch was yummy.

Then we went home. It was a cool day.

On Saturday morning I  went to the park with my Mum in Kaikohe.

I said, “Mum can I take my bike to the park?”

She said, “Yes.” So I ran to get my bike in the car.

I jumped on my bike and had a big ride around the park. It was cool. I went there to have fun. I felt amazing.

I said, “Hmmm. What is the next thing I can go on?”

Mum said, “You should go on the swing.”

The swing was as tall as giraffe. I felt splendid.

When lunch was ready Mum called me.

On  Monday morning me and my mum went to town.

It was in Kaikohe. We went to get shopping. I felt happy and excited.

When I got to town I saw my dad on his truck doing his work.

“Hi Dad,” I shouted. Dad waved to me.

We went to New World. First we got some fruit and vegetables.  

Next we got our lunch for me and my mum and my dad.

Then we went to practice Rugby. I felt happy.

Later on me and my dad were getting hot so we went inside.

Finally me and my mum and dad went to get our dinner. It was amazing.

I have been learning the names of things in our classroom in Te Reo Maori.

I have also been learning Tenei and Tena.

I have been learning to say my Pepeha with confidence.

I went to rugby.

On Thursday morning me and my team went to the rippa rugby in Kaikohe to play rugby against other schools.

I felt pumped.

When we got to the rugby fields we saw lots of people. I said,  “wow it’s  going to be an amazing game today.”

The first thing I did was to practice pushing the ball around and we ripped the tags. I felt keen and excited to play.

Next we all went over to have a meeting with other schools. I said, “Which team are we versing first?” We versed Tautoro 1. We lost that game. I felt sad because we lost our first game.

We had 3 games. We lost 2 games and we won 1 game. We got into the finals. In the finals we versed Kaikohe East School. We lost that game. I felt upset.

Later on the games were finished. I said, “That was an amazing day.”

I felt pumped and keen.

Next we played on the slide. It was cool. I felt jolly and pleased.

After that we had a yummy lunch. “Mmm that was yum,” I said. I felt happy at the park.

Going to the beach

On Monday morning me and my family went to the beach at Opononi.        

When I went to the beach with my family the first thing I did was to put on my togs.

Then I bolted to the water to have a swim. I was doing big bombs. It was amazing.

My Speech 2017

Here I am delivering my speech at the Tautoro School Junior Speech competition.

The judges were marking me on showing confidence, good pace

and volume, speaking clearly, audience connection, use of gestures and timing.

I came 2nd equal for the Year 2's in Room 3.

Playing Rugby in Okaihau.

On Saturday morning my team Tautoro  Titans and I played Rugby in Okaihau.

First we played rugby against Okaihau. The game was exciting because we were running fast with the ball.

Next we played Kerikeri. The Kerikeri team were good at running fast. We couldn’t catch them. They were too fast.

We lost both games but we had fun.

It  was a super day.

At  Paihia beach

On Sunday morning I went to Paihia beach because it  was hot.

First I had a feed. It was yum.

Then I had a swim. The water was cold. I liked my swim.

Next I had a game of soccer. It was fun.

After that I made a sand castle. My sand castle was cool.

Later on I went to sleep and then we went home.

Finally when I got home I watched a family movie.

It was fun.  Thank you Mum for taking me to the beach.

Rules at school.

I  think  we should  have  rules at  school.

Firstly I  think  we  should  have  rules  at  school  

because it will  be  a  clean  school.

Secondly there will  be  no  bullying.

went to Tautoro falls because it was hot.

There was a big flood at the falls and the water was going very fast.

We went home. We did not have a swim.

I think it is wrong to fight.  

Firstly it is wrong to fight because people will get angry.

Brush your  teeth

I think we should brush our teeth every day.

Firstly I think we should brush your teeth every day because then we will not get holes in our teeth.

Secondly I think we should brush our then so that our teeth are clean.

Another reason is that if you brush your teeth you will have nice teeth.

Lastly I think it is good to brush teeth so your teeth stay healthy.
